3 of Nuwa's Biggest Achievements

We’ve achieved a lot over the years. Starting a company is an achievement in itself—so too is sourcing a talented team and keeping energy high week to week.

But what are our biggest achievements?

Speed

When you embark on any journey, speed is helpful. When you’re a plucky start-up facing down the tech giants, speed becomes a critical component of survival. Without it, you stand no chance of reaching your goals. But how do you keep pace over such a long period of time?

Much of that comes down to the team. We’re curious when hiring, always looking to add people with the right energy. Moving at pace can be—and often is—frustrating. You have to leave perfectionism at the door and focus solely on problem-solving.

Moving at pace also means keeping the plates spinning. At our stage of company life, smoothly linking one phase of development to the next is paramount. Each clunky transition adds delays, and these decisions affect everything from delivery times to security.

However, when it comes to moving at speed, there is no other option. And so far, we’re just about keeping up with our ambitious pacer.

Community

It’s one of those words co-opted by corporations time and time again. Like innovation and family, community is starting to receive an automatic eye roll, accompanied by a heavy sigh. But we’re still proud of ours.

Starting from scratch isn’t a walk in the park, and galvanizing a client base and enthusiastic community around a product is a real challenge. It’s even harder when you’re developing something with no easily accessible reference.

That’s why we’re so proud of what we’ve achieved. Not only do we have an engaged and enthusiastic base, but we also managed to sell over 6,000 pre-orders and break a Dutch record for crowdfunding.

Those numbers are great—but the real magic has come over the last few months, as we’ve listened to that base: their suggestions for improvements, ideas for new features, and the handfuls of heartfelt messages of encouragement.

Digitizing from Any Paper

Of course, this is what we set out to do. So maybe it shouldn’t be on this list—but developing a technology that never existed deserves its place among our biggest achievements. It’s the kind of thing you dream of when you’re a kid: Imagine if your pen could…

Making that idea a reality was hard—really hard. And there are probably more challenges on the horizon. But completing that task is monumental. It’s a testament to the talent of our team, our record-setting pace, and our community.

Without everything falling into place—whether it slipped in easily or was forced in with a hammer—we wouldn’t have been able to pull this off. Our hope is that Nuwa helps people rediscover their love of handwriting, and opens the door to a whole new way of working.
