Note-vember! What is it? Why should you get involved?

Our world is shaped by imagination. Bold thoughts have created the world’s most fantastical inventions. But creativity can be stubborn—it only flourishes when you feed it. That’s where reflection and ideation come in.

This November (Note-vember), we invite you to feed your creativity, through handwriting. We’ll provide 30 daily prompts about the present and the future to inspire you. If you haven’t picked up a pen since school, now’s the time. Handwriting has incredible effects on the brain and how we process information. That’s why we’re encouraging you to open up your notebooks and pick up your pens.

Why Handwriting?

Not only does handwriting improve memory and focus, but it also boosts creativity. And the effects compound over time. After a month of handwriting daily, you’ll supercharge all three: focus, memory, and creativity. Don’t believe us? Read more about the involved neuroscience here.

When & Where

Starting Friday, November 1st, we’ll release daily prompts across our social channels. These prompts will range from topics like:

  • "What role does humor and entertainment play in coping with difficult times?"
  • "What’s your opinion about the current state of technology, and what do you hope it will become?"

At the end of the month, we’ll compile your shared notes and ideas into a handwriting ‘time-capsule’, available for free download as a PDF.

But remember, this is an open-ended challenge. If your ideas take you elsewhere, we encourage you to follow them. Note-vember is all about putting pen to paper.

Sharing is Caring

With any challenge—physical, mental, or both—it’s easier when you feel part of a community. Throughout Note-vember, we encourage you to share your notes, insights, workspaces, and penmanship with the community. Use the hashtag #Notevember or tag @nuwapen and we’ll spread your contribution.

Why wait until January to change your routine for the better? End the year feeling accomplished, more focused, and creative. And you don’t have to start running, give up your favorite snacks, or say no to that beloved glass of vino!

Got questions? Ask us anything on our Discord or  Note-vember subreddit.
