Everyone who uses a pen regularly—to take notes, write, or draw—has likely dreamt of one or two magical features that could have saved them time, stress, or both. That desire has led to a boom in the digital pen world and it’s what first attracted me to Nuwa Pen over a year ago. Like you, I was thrilled that someone—or a group of people with more technical skills than me—was putting my dreams into practice.
“I’ve fallen into a rhythm, tending to use it for three main purposes: writing my morning and post-meeting to-do lists, content ideation, and, on a more personal note, character and plot notes for my novel.”
A few weeks later, I found myself among those special people, helping to deliver the world’s smartest pen. So you’ll understand that this review isn’t an objective one—it’s bound to be influenced by bias. But I will attempt to be as clear and honest as possible.
There are lots of options out there today, from paper-like tablets to digital pens. But while they all have their own unique benefits, none of them hit the mark for me–absolute freedom. I live with a chaotic brain that needs to push ideas out on the spot. So a pen that writes with real ink on any paper is a must. One that digitizes what I write, transcribes my handwriting to typed-text and offers easy ways to take action on those ideas is a huge plus.
After using Nuwa Pen for a few months, I’ve fallen into a rhythm, tending to use it for three main purposes: writing my morning and post-meeting to-do lists, content ideation, and, on a more personal note, character and plot notes for my novel.
To-Do Lists
This function helps me, a notoriously disorganized person, keep up with my tasks. The AI Summary feature is amazing at this, quickly reminding me of what I need to do next. Although extremely understated, this streamlining has kept me more organized throughout the day and has helped me keep up with my busy schedule. The best thing is my To-Do list is always on hand on my Nuwa+ App. So, even if I’m commuting and forget my notebook, I know exactly what I need to do.
Ideation
I’ve always loved writing by hand, hence my enthusiasm for Nuwa Pen. I find it the best way to come up with ideas, and as a content writer, that’s very important. While this process sometimes looks messy in my notebook and even in the app—with ideas scattered all over the place—Nuwa’s Simple Search and AI Summary features unlock these scattered ideas like never before. I can ask Nuwa Pen, List my ideas from this morning, and I’ll get a reply with everything I’ve thought of that day. This not only saves time but also gives me more room to be creative before I start planning. An added bonus that most digital pens don’t give you is the distraction-free interface. I can just sit down with a blank page and my Nuwa Pen and get to work. While I’d like to think I can do that any time, I know my monkey brain struggles with any distraction–say another document I am working on or a note I made on another page of my notebook.
Character & Plot Notes
In my spare time, I’m a wannabe novelist. And if you’ve attempted to write a novel, book, or thesis before, you’ll understand the struggle of wrestling with a big text. At some point—somewhere around 20,000-50,000 words—you start losing track of the details. But with Nuwa Pen, I’m able to keep notes on those details—say, a character's personality, upbringing, graduation date, etc. Then, when I need that information, I just use the Simple Search feature, and it appears. In this way, Nuwa Pen is a revelation and has saved me hours. Again, the distraction-free interface puts it above other similar products for me, allowing me to easily settle into ‘the zone’.
In these three ways, Nuwa Pen has lived up to my lofty dreams of a magic digital pen and exceeds all other paper-like tablets, digital pens, or writing solutions I’ve tried previously. And the amazing thing is that this is just the beginning. I envision a world, sometime soon, where I can write an entire blog, email, content schedule (with diagrams), or even a novel with Nuwa Pen alone.
But as I said in the beginning, I’m biased, so you’ll just have to get one and try it yourself.
